HDR video, though this is potentially fixable in upcoming updates. On the back are regular, ultra-wide and 3x telephoto cameras which, to cut a long story short, can’t match iphone 11 Pro quality in stills or video but are decent all round, plus an unusual infra-red ‘ Photochrom’ camera that you’ll love, hate or ignore.

The waterproof glass-backed case, Oneplus’ first with IP68 waterproofing, is currently available in shiny Onyx Black or frosted Glacial Green (aka turquoise). The latter also doubles the storage to 256GB and costs an extra £100. The memory ( RAM), something we don’t often talk about with mobile devices, also increases from an already generous 8GB to 12GB. Either way, the latest Snapdragon 865 processor has excellent performance for apps and games, and we got 20 hours 30 minutes from the battery (charged wirelessly or via USBUSB-C) in our videovideoplayback test, barely affected if we chose the 120Hz mode for a smoother display.
