Mighty mouse with magnetic qualities

Magnetic attraction
According to an air-accident report published in April, a French defence industry executive given a ride in a Dassault Rafale B fighter jet was so startled by the g-force on takeoff that he grabbed on to a lever that activated his ejector seat at
1300ft. Fortunately, he landed safely in a field. We were reminded of this story when contemplating the MX Master
3, which looks so lethally efficient, with its vertiginous tilt and dramatically splayed thumb rest, that we were almost afraid to touch its knurled steel knobs.

It is an impressive piece of engineering, albeit made for Excel more than Exocets. The big left and right buttons are the most conventional – and, with a high-pitched click, least stealthy – feature of this right-handed rodent. Between them is a vertical scroll wheel that can switch between smooth and ratchet operation, the latter simulated by electromagnets. Its Magspeed mechanism can scroll very fast, yet stop precisely where you want. A roller under your thumb scrolls horizontally, with forward/back or undo/redo buttons below. A gesture button lets you flick between Windows desktops or activate Task View. ‘Darkfield’ tracking keeps cursor-control precise on any surface. Charged via USB-C, the MX Master 3 works over Bluetooth or its own USB-A radio dongle and supports Logitech’s Flow software. This lets you connect to multiple computers – PC, Mac or both – and even copy and paste between them. It’s a mouse that leaves nothing to be desired.
