Summarise PDFS and Google Drive files using AI
Brave 1.63, released at the end of February, expands the capabilities of the browser’s AI assistant, Leo, so it can interact with PDFS and files stored in Google Drive. Previously, Leo was limited to summarising and answering questions about web pages and online videos.
When you open a PDF in Brave, either by dragging and dropping the file from your desktop or by setting the browser as your default PDF viewer, click the Leo button in the sidebar ( 1 in our screenshot above) to launch the chatbot. Click ‘Summarize this page’ 2 to generate a synopsis of the PDF’S content or ask Leo a specific question, such as ‘how many words are in this article?’. You may see a warning that ‘This page is too long for Leo’, but the bot will do its best to respond to your text prompts.
Similarly, when you open a document in Google Docs or a spreadsheet in Google Sheets, you can now summon Leo to summarise the content and answer questions – again, you may be warned about length.
Brave says Leo “doesn’t record or share chats, or use them for model training”, in case you’re worried about the bot stealing your data. After a certain number of responses, you may be prompted to subscribe to Leo’s Premium plan or switch to its free model.
