Dog trainer Sam named as finalist
A CORNISH dog trainer has been named as a finalist in the 2024 Animal Star Awards.
Sam Fraser, founder of Paws To Train and Behaviour, is nominated for the title of Dog Trainer/Behaviourist of the Year, from more than 700 nominations.
Becoming fully qualified through the Animal Care College, Sam has worked as a dog trainer and behaviourist for six years, and is registered with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), National Register of Dog Trainers and Behaviourists and International Society of Animal Professionals.
Commenting on being named as a finalist, Sam said: “To learn that I had been shortlisted was absolutely amazing. When I got the message, I was quite shocked as I’m sure there are so many other incredible people shortlisted.”
As an IMDT qualified trainer, Sam, from Pensilva, near Liskeard, specialises in ‘positive rewardbased training’ and offers a wide range of services, including puppy and life skills classes, agility and hoopers training, recall workshops and pet gun dog sessions – something which she is particularly passionate about.
“I have a passion for pet gun dogs, helping dogs in family homes that have innate behaviours which they need to fulfil,” Sam adds. “When I’m training, it’s not just about the dogs, but also helping and supporting the owners through every step and beyond.”
Southern winners of the Animal Star Awards will be announced on Sunday, May 26. For more details, visit www.paws2traink9.com
