It is a truth universally acknowledged that the selfie stick is even more annoying than the words ‘unexpected item in bagging area’. So it’s welcome news that a slew of alternative ways to capture your own face are now here. HTC has created a phone whose sides you ‘squeeze’ to activate the camera, thereby avoiding the phone-locking calamity that often occurs mid-selfie, while the ‘anti-gravity’ phone case (try Qteey’s, £7.99) sticks to walls, allowing for a more subtle mug shot. But our favourite is the AirSelfie, a £240 drone, which is operated via your phone. Just pose, press a button and the obliging object will hover mid-air to capture a flattering snap from above. A godsend for those with double chins. Not so much for those with a bald patch.
