For Inthefrow’s Victoria Magrath, fabulous hair is a style signature. Here, she talks about dreamy colour, TLC and her Dyson Supersonic
Does Victoria Magrath ever have a bad hair day? As the super-chic influencer behind hugely successful fashion and beauty blog Inthefrow. com, her sleek, silver, picture-perfect hair is her trademark.“I used to be known as the blogger with purple hair, and my bright, out-there colour was a major part of my identity,”she told us. “Then, about three years ago, I got bored, but I still wanted a colour that felt unique. With silver, I think I’ve got there. It’s bright, looks great in videos and has become my new characteristic.”
To say that Victoria is a ‘trend-head’ is no exaggeration. With a degree in Design Management for Fashion Retail, and inspired by front-row fashion mavens (not to mention the song Front
Row by Alanis Morissette), she launched Inthefrow five years ago, while completing a PhD in Mobile Consumer Behaviour.“I was seriously busy writing my thesis, but I got obsessed by fashion and beauty online and wanted my own piece of it. But it was almost like having three full-time jobs, because I was lecturing, too,” she recalls. “There was a year when I only got to sleep about four hours a night.” As the blog took off, the lecturing had to give.
But that doesn’t mean she has time on her manicured hands.“Each post can take up to eight hours of getting ready for the photoshoot, writing, editing and uploading. Then there’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It’s a lot of hard work, but I absolutely love it,” she laughs.
What about the pressure to always look amazing? “Sometimes I won’t wear so much make-up, and feel I have to apologise if I look tired. But my audience is so wonderfully supportive, and accepts me as I am, that I’m quite chilled about it.”
And on maintaining that perfect hair, she reveals, “I’m serious about shine and condition, and my haircare routine is almost on a par with my skincare. I use a hair mask every time I shampoo, rarely straighten or curl and try not to brush too much, either. I love my Dyson Supersonic™ dryer.
