PLATINUM SERVICE AKA THE INDUSTRIAL CLEANSE

-

Couldn’t bear watching your CEO dance, David Brent-style, to Destiny’s Child’s 8 Days Of Christmas for the third year running? You probably spent more time getting ready than at the actual party itself. However, a French exit comes with its benefits, as you now have the extra time to fully valet your face. Starting with that glitter…

Dominic Skinner, global senior artist at MAC and judge on BBC Three’s Glow Up, says, “The quickest way to remove glitter is with tape before cleansing. Use something soft (Scotch or medical) and gently press the tape against the glitter, then peel off. Repeat as necessary.”

As for the rest of your make-up, melt that long-wear foundation and matte liquid lip away with an oil-based remover. Squirt a couple of pumps into wet palms and rub all over your face with water to emulsify before wiping away with a damp muslin cloth.

If you went for a bold eye look, your lids may be slightly stained. This is because some pressed pigments use dyes rather than the old-fashioned crushed-insect formula to get their bright colour. Skinner suggests soaking some cleansing oil onto a cotton pad and holding on your eyelid (don’t rub) for 30-40 seconds. “This allows the oil to break down the pigment and lift the colour from the skin,” he says.

Follow with a second rinse-off cleanse to ensure all the grime and make-up is gone. We love Florence By Mills’ Magic Micellar Cleansing Gel, which cleans without stripping. Finish with Revolution’s Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Hydrating Mask for a muchneeded moisture boost while you try not to think about your fry-up the next day.
