I didn’t find Callum immediately attractive when I first saw him, but I loved that he was so confident, outgoing and sure of himself. We were in our early teens and met at school through mutual friends. Our relationship was a typical high-school romance. Everyone knew we were together and our parents were really involved because of how young we were. It was sweet.

We became each other’s first everything. I knew I loved Callum when I realised that I wasn’t interested in chatting to other boys like all my friends were. For Valentine’s Day or birthdays we’d go to a local Italian restaurant. I’d dress up and he’d wear a suit, which made us feel really grown-up.

Although it was great, we couldn’t go a day without arguing. It was down to a lot of hormones and immaturity. I once went through his Snapchat because he was talking to another girl. A lot of trust was broken then. We first split just over two years in. Callum told me he wanted to go on a break but then told everyone we’d fully broken up. It came out of nowhere and I felt betrayed. We did try again a few months later, but eventually ended it in February 2018 after almost four years.

When Callum called for our video date, his old contact photo popped up on my phone, which felt a bit weird – it was like looking back at old memories. We got a lot off our chests and he told me how hurt he was when he found out I’d moved on with someone else. We talked about how our time together shaped relationships we’ve had since, and how we’re both more mature now. My time with Callum still feels like a valuable part of my life.
