RULES TO cleanse by

-

1 CHECK YOUR TEMP

Look, I know it’s cold outside and it’s tempting to warm up your face pre-bedtime, but you really should only use tepid water to cleanse. If it’s too hot, you risk stripping your skin of its natural oils.

2 DON’T BE ABRASIVE

Flannels are fine, but you know what’s even better than a flannel? Microfibre cloths. They’re way more gentle on the skin (especially if your flannel’s on the crusty side) and you can get a pack of three for £1.50 from Primark.

3 DOUBLE UP

Double cleansing isn’t just a con to get you to spend more money on products – you don’t even need two separate cleansers, just use the same one twice. It’s the only way to remove all your make-up, SPF (because you are wearing it every day, aren’t you?) and all the other stuff, like sweat, sebum and general grime.

4 DON’T IGNORE YOUR LASHES

No, I won’t let you off if you only cleanse your face and leave your mascara on. Not only do you risk eye infections by doing that, but brittle lashes too, as mascara dries them out. So if the pink eye doesn’t scare you, maybe stubby lashes will.
