The “workotels”

-

Say what? Well, many of us working from home are starting to realise that “home” can be translated as “anywhere really, providing you have your laptop and phone”, meaning a world of possibilities. Quick to latch on to WFH (working from hotel), Accor (Accor.com) has launched Hotel Office packages in hundreds of its properties in the UK and Europe, including the Mama Shelter chain. Think about it: as well as a desk, you get the added bonus of on-tap tea and coffee, fast wi-fi, a nearby bar and a lovely big bed if you fancy an afternoon nap – all from £35 per day. Tempting, especially if you’re house-sharing and have been forced to work in the loo due to lack of space. Plus, if you get the urge, you can always turn it into a mini-break. Airbnb (Airbnb.com) has told us the number of reviews mentioning “remote working” on its site has tripled since the start of the pandemic, proving people really are using this time to fulfil work commitments while also travelling. Being a digital nomad: much cooler than WFH.
