1 FREESTANDING DRESSER
Ideally located between the kitchen and openplan dining area, this freestanding dresser was chosen for its graceful design and useful storage. The bi-fold doors can be left open to provide easy access to the toaster and breakfast supplies. ‘Being freestanding, it lends an elegant touch to the room, which is really important because it’s the first thing you see when you walk into the kitchen,’ says Lisa.
2 MANTELPIECE
Though seemingly simple, a lot of thought has gone into perfectly framing the range cooker to recreate a classic chimney breast setting while maximising every inch of space. The traditional mantel shelf houses a powerful extractor, with display space above, and two cabinets either side of the range, which are perfect for keeping utensils and spices out of sight but close to hand. Note the cabinets are set back from the worktop front by 20cm to provide extra space for resting hot dishes straight out of the oven. A narrow shelf on the upstand offers extra storage for oils and fresh herbs.
3 COCKTAIL CORNER
A built-in cupboard has been replaced with base units and a Caesarstone top to match the kitchen. ‘The antique mirror adds a touch of glamour to this corner of the dining area, and we use the cabinets for cocktail glasses, drinks and cookery books,’ says Lisa. ‘At night the recessed lights sparkle against the mirror for a pretty effect.’
