HOME NOTES

-

Since founding Boeme in 2009, Jo Bound had been creating fabrics and homewares using fine art prints inspired by the natural world. Now, she has teamed up with Multiyork to produce a range of fabric designs for sofas, armchairs and footstools.

How did Boeme come about? it began as a result of the advancement of digital fabric printing. it was a way of expanding the world of textile design, allowing me to use huge scale with an infinite number of colours. What do you love about designing fabric? i adore all things colour and pattern, so it’s completely instinctive to me to work in this area of design. the more positive the feedback i receive about new fabric designs, the more i am spurred on to keep creating. How would you describe your designs? a layering of colours and a lack of simplicity! there are multiple facets to each – from texture and tone through to colour, which gives the fabric depth.

What inspires you? the art world – from fashion to fine art and photography. i also love being outdoors and observing landscapes. natural forms are an endless source of inspiration to me. How important is it to you to support British manufacturing? it’s crucial. i try to only use british base cloths, and i print in my hometown of Lancaster. the provenance of any product i use is very important to me.
