My passion for all things interesting and beautiful stems from spending my childhood rambling around a Cotswolds rectory with a family of collectors. Shave Green began over six years ago when I realised my ambition to have a shop selling decorative antiques, lighting, painted furniture and beautiful homeware. What are its style principles? We pride ourselves on giving old furniture a new home, and our stock includes recycled pieces from reclamation yards and auction houses, alongside new textiles, local crafts, antler table lamps and paint. describe your clients’ style Curious, merry and eccentric. What makes your new Forest location so special? Lyndhurst is regarded as the capital of the new Forest, and the natural beauty of the landscape influences how we style the shop. the name Shave Green is taken from a local woodland, and the colours and textures of the forest creep into my style without me even noticing. I love earthy tones and using wood and natural stone to reflect our beautiful surroundings. Who visits your shop? While we have strong community links, we draw our customers from a wide area. the town attracts visitors from all over and many are returning holidaymakers.
any Favourite products?
My favourite pieces are constantly changing. I’m easily swayed by an old cart, an oil painting, a shabby old mirror – I’m like a child in a sweet shop.
any exciting plans?
I have an amazing, long-suffering and loyal ‘Green team’ who are always there to support and grow Shave Green. a few years ago, we opened Goose Green trading next door. It’s a small independent boutique and gift shop, mirroring Shave Green’s unique style.
