1 BOX SHELVES
As the kitchen has plenty of storage, Elizabeth didn’t feel the need to overload the walls with cabinets at eye-level. Instead, she chose simple box shelves, which add interest and display space for recipe books and pretty china. ‘I think wall cupboards could have felt overbearing, and they would have blocked some of the light from the skylights above,’ she says.
2 STATEMENT RANGE COOKER
Elizabeth’s pride and joy, the Lacanche range cooker, is an investment piece that’s been given extra impact via a glossy granite splashback and elegant mantelpiece. ‘I’d never heard of Lacanche until Harvey Jones introduced me to the brand, but as soon as I saw the Macon range cooker I recognized that it was not merely a cooking utensil, but something that would give me pleasure for many years,’ says Elizabeth. ‘The range we bought for our old kitchen was practically falling apart when we moved, but this one is far more durable and comes with a long guarantee that, I hope, will make it a much better long-term investment.’
3 FRAMED FRIDGE
There are many benefits to choosing a freestanding fridge-freezer over fully-integrated versions, including easier replacement and repair, and the money saved from not needing cabinet doors to be made or fitted. However, you will lose the streamlined benefits of built-in, an issue that Elizabeth and the Harvey Jones team have overcome with this stylish all-in-one larder and refrigerator cabinet. Bridged at the top with a smart wine rack providing a purposeful connection, the tall larder units on either side make this a one-stop collection point for all food and drink – whether it’s cool, frozen or room temperature.
