Farewell fireplace

IAM enough to have a fine inglenook fireplace, but it has become increasingly difficult to come by decent-sized logs. I feel that this is due to the rise of the woodburner, which can look quaint in the right house, but would be completely out of keeping in our generous fireplace. I’m at my wits’ end as these small logs don’t stack up well and aren’t aesthetically rewarding. Are we witnessing the dying embers of the great British open fire? Dominic Hickman Casey, East Sussex
