Hatfield to host the Game Fair
HATFIELD HOUSE in Hertfordshire, seat of the Marquess of Salisbury, plays host to the great countryside extravaganza for the first time on July 28–30. In addition to some 1,000 tradestands selling everything from a Purdey to a pergola and a vast range of entertainment, from archery to eagles, there will be experts on ptarmigan, game cooking, Himalayan monster fish, antique guns, vintage tackle and the Irish Macnab. Brexit will be a pivotal topic and Jim Barrington will explain whether there’s now any hope for repeal of the Hunting Act 2004. COUNTRY LIFE is sponsoring the Village Green, which will offer cricket matches, a Tiptree gin bar and cream teas. Adult tickets to the fair cost £22.50—visit the website to see if you’re eligible for a concession (www.thegamefair.org).
