Exhibition October 14–January 7, 2018 ‘Howard Hodgkin: India on Paper’, Victoria Art Gallery, Bath, Somerset. Until his death last March, Hodgkin visited India most years. This exhibition includes Indian Views (1971), scenes from the windows of trains, the large prints Delhi, Heat and In India (2012) and the Indian Waves series (1990–91), painted on handmade Indian paper. Admission £5, children free Autumn is a time for walks and the 18th-century landscape at Millichope, dropping gently away from the Classical house (not open), is the perfect setting. Lakes, cascades and pillared temples add to the warm seasonal hues contrasted with evergreen trees.
