The good life for £50

-

If you think a mere £50 is a bargain for a farm worth £1.3 million, read on. North Yorkshire farmer John Bennett is raffling off his 18½-acre farm after he struggled to sell it and has already seen interest from as far afield as Mexico, New Zealand and hong Kong.

Barns farm, near the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn, in the North Riding, has ‘an enormous three-bedroom stone farmhouse’, which enjoys views as far as Northumberland on a clear day, eight stables, a tack room, a feed room, a sixcar garage, a barn and a workshop.

If Mr Bennett can sell 28,000 £50 tickets before March 2018, he’ll be able to pick three winners. first prize is the Barns farm freehold; second and third are ultra-hd LED Samsung curved televisions. Mr Bennett hopes to have enough left over to donate £5,000 each to charities Children with Cancer and Saltburn Animal Rescue. If not enough tickets are sold, he has the option to instead award cash prizes of 60%, 30% and 10% of the funds.

entrants must first answer the question ‘Which town on the north-east coast has the last remaining pier in Yorkshire?’ before buying a ticket. Visit www.winbarnsfarm.life to enter.

This isn’t the first sale by raffle. In August, Marie Segar won a £800,000 six-bedroom house in Lancashire.
