Anyone spending the bank holiday on the Isle of Wight should make time to visit the garden of Morton Manor, where they will find immaculate terraces, a series of ponds and sweeping lawns shaded by a host of majestic trees and a fine collection of acers. Surrounding a picturesque 16th-century manor house (not open), much of the garden is in neat Arts-and-crafts style and the faultless standard of maintenance emphasises the satisfying composition into which a rich variety of planting is woven.
