Louise Jones has created a calm scheme for a dressing room at a Georgian house in Wiltshire

-

The designer studied at the Inchbald School of Design, (having switched from her previous career in accountancy) before spending seven years with London practice Todhunter earle. She left to establish her own company, which is now based in Richmond. Previous commissions have included residential projects in central London and a chalet in Verbier. She is currently working on the refurbishment of a house on the Isle of Jura.

This is the dressing room of the master bedroom of a Georgian property near Marlborough that Louise and her team refurbished to create a house with a country feel that also offers 21st-century comfort. The scheme combines a pale palette of colours and doors with mirrored panels that were hand-painted by Sterling Studios (www.sterling-studios.com; 020–8453 9360). The latter creates a wide range of decorative finishes for walls, furniture and cabinetry, including eglomise glass, lacquer and gesso.

Sterling Studios also painted the woodwork in a casein paint that has a chalky finish, adding depth and an aged appearance. The combination of the two creates a soft, muted feel.

As with any dressing room, lighting was key and this was designed by John Cullen Lighting (020–7371 9000; www.johncullenlighting.com). Oak-leaf door pulls are available from Charles edwards (www.charlesedwards.com; 020–7736 7172). The fabric on the cushion is Sunflower, which costs £323 per metre from Chelsea Textiles (www.chelseatextiles.com; 020–7584 5544).
