Join COUNTRY LIFE at La Mamounia in the spring
IN association with Boxwood Tours, COUNTRY LIFE is delighted to announce an exclusive tour from March 13 to 17, 2018, enjoying the exotic and private gardens of Marrakesh.
This Moroccan royal city has become a destination of choice for the discerning traveller. Known as ‘the rose among the palms’, Marrakesh is characterised by its pink-coloured pisé (rammed earth) architecture and a deep-rooted tradition of garden-making.
Hosted by COUNTRY LIFE writers David Wheeler and Kirsty Fergusson, our home for four nights is in the heart of Marrakesh at the luxurious and historic palace-hotel La Mamounia, set in its own ravishing gardens and orchards and frequented in the past by Sir Winston Churchill as well as many famous artists and stars.
From here, we will explore a range of gardens, from those around old palaces to new creations attached to modern private properties. In addition, with the imminent opening of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakesh, we are planning a special visit linked with Jardin Majorelle and another very private garden.
Also included are Tom Stuart-smith’s flower-rich exotic garden ‘Le Jardin Secret’ and an exquisite private garden with water rills and a lemon arbour in the foothills of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains.
A stay at La Mamounia is a sensual experience: plays of light between indoor and outdoor spaces, refined dining, beautifully contrasting colours and textures and fragrances of jasmine, orange blossom and cedar wafting through a cool interior.
The tour price of £3,790 includes return flights from London, all garden entries, all meals and four nights at La Mamounia.
