EMBROIDERED CLOCK

Watch the time fly on a vintage-style handmade clock

- PROJECT AND STYLING BY ROS BADGER PHOTOGRAPH BY RACHEL WHITING

1 Using the inside of a 23cm embroidery hoop as a template, draw onto thick card or foam board and cut this out.

2 In the centre, make a hole of about 5mm.

3 From the front side, sandwich a vintage tray cloth (you can find similar ones in charity shops or take a look on ebay) between the embroidery hoop and stretch so the fabric is taut.

4 On the reverse side, trim the fabric around the edge of the embroidery hoop using sharp scissors, as close to the wooden ring as possible.

5 With the scissor point, carefully make a small hole in the centre of the cloth.

6 Fit the card or foam into the back of the hoop.

7 Attach a quartz clock movement from the reverse side of your work, placing the centre spindle through the centre holes of the fabric and the card.

8 From the right side, follow the clock instructions to attach the hands.
