THE SISSINGHURST YEARS

Recruited by Vita Sackvillewest, Sibylle Kreutzberger and Pam Schwerdt were head gardeners at Sissinghurst Castle in Kent from 1959 to 1991. After Vita’s death in 1962, they continued to develop the garden for the National Trust, extending its season of interest and adding flowers and foliage with contrasting form to Vita’s planting. Their artistry enriched the garden’s highly influential style, which draws visitors from around the world.
