CELEBRATE THE BEST OF BRITISH rural life this summer at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground. Farming remains at the heart of England’s premier agricultural show, now in its 159th year, but plenty of other attractions will ensure an unmissable experience for visitors of all ages.

This year there will be a special equine extravaganza with Yorkshire-based Atkinson Action Horses and their stunt riders seen recently in popular television dramas Poldark, Peaky Blinders and

Victoria. They will certainly impress with their breathtaking stunts and tricks. There will also be competitive showjumping, including a class for ponies, which is new for this year.

A daily fashion show will take place featuring stylish outfits, including the new women’s jackets in the Great Yorkshire Show tweed range, which will be on sale in the showground. Visitors can also enjoy a fabulous garden show, country pursuits and forestry section in addition to an art exhibition and live musical entertainment.

Look out for a new street-food court selling a range of local and international cuisine, including treats from the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s own food hall and Café Fodder, the only one of its kind in the UK where 100% of profits go back into a rural charity (YAS). Cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs such as Rosemary Shrager (left) and a gin and prosecco bar providing liquid refreshment all add to the lively atmosphere.

And don’t miss the Country Living Pavilion, which will be home to an exciting array of stalls showcasing the work of talented craftspeople and artisans from around Britain, selling original items for the home and garden, stylish fashion, beautiful jewellery and distinctive accessories and gifts.
