IN THE FIELDS THIS MONTH

Farmers usually make hay during June – a time when the grass is at its most nutritious and the weather is (hopefully) dry. In many fields you will see stacks of modern square bales appearing but, if you’re lucky, you might come across a traditional haystack, also known as a rick, shock or stook.
