STENCILLED STOOL

Upcycle pieces of furniture using chalk paints (then there is no need to use a primer first). To create this effect, sand the stool seat lightly, then paint the top white. Paint the legs, seat edge and underneath in a contrasting shade. Place a doily in the middle of the seat and, holding it in place, stipple over the design in the same colour as the legs. Finally, paint around the doily edge in this colour, too, before peeling off. Leave to dry.
