Agriculture has been modernised in many ways, but no machine can replicate the work of the humble hedgelayer. This traditional skill, in which cut stems are bent and secured to create a living fence, is undertaken to manage hedgerows, creating cattle-proof boundaries and valuable natural wildlife habitats.
