Stay in the breathtaking ICEHOTEL

Sleep on an ice bed in Sweden’s Icehotel and visit the Aurora Sky Station, the perfect place to see the mesmerising Northern Lights

-

Wake up in a unique ‘frozen’ bedroom that’s made entirely of snow and ice on this wonderful once-in-alifetime trip. In the incredible Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, a peaceful village in Swedish Lapland, you’ll sleep in a cosy thermal sleeping bag on top of Arctic reindeer skins covering an ornate ice bed. Strange as it sounds, many guests say they experience one of their best night’s sleep in these beautiful rooms, which reach a minimum temperature of -5°C. You’ll be mesmerised by the hotel’s ice chandeliers, which contain a staggering 1,000 hand-cut ice crystals in total.

On this three-night break to Swedish Lapland, 200km north of the Arctic Circle, you’ll spend one night in one of the Icehotel’s classic Ice Rooms, one in its fully heated hotel or chalet-style accommodation and one in Abisko National Park – rated by Lonely Planet as the best place for experiencing the Northern Lights.

In Abisko, you’ll stay at the Abisko Mountain Station, where prevailing winds push clouds away so the skies are clear, and there’s virtually no light pollution. That means, if conditions are right, there’s a high chance you’ll have a fantastic sighting of the Northern Lights every night between November and March.

You’ll also enjoy a trip to the Aurora Sky Station to (hopefully) watch the magical light show. Plus, you’ll fly to Kiruna direct, in just three and a half hours instead of up to a six-hour trip via Stockholm, and have more time to take in the frozen lakes, fir trees and tranquil landscapes. Optional Arctic activities such as husky-sledding and snowmobiling are also available.

On this trip to the remote wilderness of Swedish Lapland, you’ll find ideal conditions to see the captivating Northern Lights and stay in the world-famous Treehotel. Flying from London to Luleå, you’ll stay first in the delightful Sörbyn Lodge, which sits on the edge of Lake Vitträsket. There, you can explore the snow- and ice-covered landscape by day and search the dark skies for the Northern Lights by night. From there, you’ll be transferred to the Treehotel, where you’ll sleep in one of the most sought-after rooms in Scandinavia.

REASONS TO BOOK STAY AT THE TREEHOTEL

Spend the night in one of the spectacular concept rooms among the treetops. Each room, such as the Bird’s Nest or the UFO (pictured above), has a unique theme and showcases the best of Swedish design. After settling in, you can enjoy a delicious three-course dinner in the homely guesthouse. There is no other hotel quite like it, so this is sure to be a truly unforgettable night.

AMAZING EXPERIENCES

With cold-weather clothing supplied for your trip, you can enjoy unforgettable activities in Lapland. For a supplement, join expert local guides to try ice fishing, dog sledding and snowshoeing, or jump on a snowmobile or dog-pulled sled in search of the Northern Lights.
