Natural remedies and tips to help you feel your best
Farewell to the flush
Whether it’s rosacea or hormonal flushes, an over-rosy complexion is an all-too-common affliction, so Rosalique 3-in-1 Anti-redness Miracle Formula could be your new skincare essential. As well as toning down the appearance of redness instantly, its anti-inflammatory action also works to calm irritation, and an SPF 50 helps protect from aggravating UV rays (£30; rosalique.co.uk).
TUNE IN AND TONE UP
If, like me, you need a bit of a boost to get you exercising, try plugging in your headphones. Recent research published in the journal Frontiers of Psychology reveals that listening to high-tempo music while doing endurance exercise – such as running or walking – reduces the perceived effort involved and increases the benefits. Participants who had pop tunes playing not only had higher heart rates during their workouts but felt as though they weren’t working as hard. Previous studies have found that upbeat music can even help High Intensity Interval Training (or HIIT, which involves short bouts of really intense exercise) seem less gruelling, especially for those new to it. And if you want to pick up the pace on your run, select a tune with a faster beat – running in time to it has been shown to increase endurance.

Don’t ditch beetroot leaves – just like the roots, they are rich in vitamins and minerals. If you grow your own, pick young leaves for salad, or add the older leaves of shop-bought bunches to soups.
