CELEBRATION COCKTAILS
Why not try one of these festive tipples made using a selection of drinks from British artisan producers?
fizz ORANGE AND BASIL
Half-fill 6 small tumblers with ice cubes, then add 1½ tbsp Cointreau and 1-2 drops Angostura bitters to each glass. Top up with chilled Chapel Down Non Vintage Brut. Garnish with a twist of orange zest and a sprig of fresh basil (chapeldown.com).
martini RASPBERRY
Into a large jug, measure 300ml Chase Original Potato Vodka, 125ml Riverside Spirits Raspberry Gin Liqueur and 500ml pineapple juice. Stir, then fill the jug with ice. Stand for 5 minutes until chilled, then strain between 6 martini glasses. Serve, adding a few frozen raspberries to each glass (chasedistillery.co.uk; riversidespirits.co.uk).
negroni HONEY
Pour 25ml each of Warners Honeybee Gin, Bramley & Gage Sweet Vermouth and Campari into a jug with ice. Stir, then strain into a tumbler. Add extra ice and garnish with a blood orange slice. Makes 1 (warnersdistillery.com; bramleyandgage.com).
sloe gin MULLED
Gently heat 300ml Sloemotion Hedgerow Gin with Winter Spices with 500ml cranberry juice, 1 cinnamon stick and 1 star anise. Serve in heatproof glasses with apple and orange slices. Makes 1 (sloemotiondistillery.com).
old-fashioned SCOTTISH
Put 2 tsp sugar, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and a splash of soda water in a tumbler. Stir in 60ml Tobermory 12 Year Old Whisky and add plenty of ice. Garnish with a slice of orange and a maraschino cherry. Makes 1 (tobermorydistillery.com).
non-alcoholic BECALMED
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice. Add 50ml Salcombe Distillery New London Light, 10ml agave syrup, 15ml lime juice and 100ml coconut water. Stir to combine. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and star anise. Makes 1 (salcombegin.com).
