Finesse THE FURNISHINGS
Halls and landings need furnishing just as carefully as other rooms, and sometimes more cleverly. The right choices of slimline and wall-hung furniture will avoid any wasted areas.
1 & 2 HANG HOOKS OR A PEG RAIL for coats and hats with a practical shelf above. A unit fitted with slot-in basket drawers provides neat storage for scarves and gloves, while squashy cushions will turn it into a comfortable seat when needed.
3 CREATE A BOOT ROOM by installing a butler’s sink and offering built-in storage for outdoor footwear. It’s the perfect solution when someone arrives home from a muddy walk or with a bucket of flowers from the garden – and also a good place for wet umbrellas.
4 FIT HIGH-LEVEL SHELVES to provide safe, out-of-the-way storage for flower vases and other items, whether decorative or practical. Benches (especially with lift-up seats to hold outdoor paraphernalia) will supply a sense of welcome, as well as somewhere to sit while pulling on boots.
