Tenerife Walking Festival 2017
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Festival registration costs just 25. Sign up at www.tenerifewalkingfestival.com and you’ll receive:
A Tenerife welcome pack, including a rucksack, commemorative T-shirt, neck gaiter and power bank (external battery for smartphones and tablets), along with other free gifts provided by the sponsors, such as sports creams, gastronomic products and more.
Access to top gastronomic venues and open-air activities throughout the festival, including free drinks and discounts.
A wristband entitling you to discounts in many shops, museums and restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz and around the Island.
Access to the Meeting Point, with special prices for participants.
Walks are subject to an additional charge (from 25 per person), which covers transport to and from the start of each walk and guiding, plus complementary activities. You’ll be in safe hands with the English-speaking local guide accompanying every walk. Participants can sign up for up to four walks over the festival.
TIME OUT: TAKING A BREAK FROM THE TRAIL
Festival fever doesn’t stop with the guided walks. The hikes are complemented by additional activities to give you a better understanding of the places you pass through and enhance your experience of Tenerife. You’ll get the chance to taste local produce, go stargazing in the clear mountain skies and even take a dip in a volcanic pool.
There’s lots to see and do in Puerto de la Cruz too, as well as special events and activities around the island. Don’t miss the carnival atmosphere of the opening and closing ceremonies, plus exhibitions, foodie venues and talks from leading figures in the world of trekking, including ‘godfather’ of the festival and legendary Spanish adventurer Sebastián Álvaro.
Spend some time relaxing and sampling some of Tenerife’s many other attractions too. Let a city trail lead you through the narrow streets and squares, past churches, castles and historic buildings, down to the picturesque fishing quay and onto the beach. You’ll be following in the footsteps of artists, writers and explorers, like Alexander von Humboldt and Agatha Christie.
Experience the heritage and culture of Puerto de la Cruz with a visit to the Archaeological Museum or the Eduardo Westerdahl Museum of Contemporary Art, then head for lunch at one of the many fine restaurants. The city also boasts splendid gardens that are open to visitors, including botanical gardens dating back to the 18th century.
