Ups and downs on the coast
Living near the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, I thought I was a tough cookie when it came to walking. I’ve done the Yorkshire Three Peaks a couple of times and always thought that would be the toughest walk I would do.
Imagine my surprise then when, on holiday in Cornwall, my husband and I decided to walk along the SWCP from Bude to Crackington Haven, following your route. Up, down then up again followed by a very steep down and then straight back up the steepest flight of stairs I’ve ever known!
But the steady climb out of Widemouth Bay got the lungs and legs warmed up, completely unexpectedly, the sun came out. It was supposed to be cold and rainy!
We thoroughly enjoyed it, and definitely earned the cream tea when we arrived at Crackington Haven – hot, disheveled but completely blown away by the gorgeous scenery! Perhaps there are hills other than ‘up north’.
