Brian Blessed in a tree

He’s famous for larger-thanlife roles in Flash Gordon, Star Wars and Black Adder, but Brian Blessed’s latest acting engagement sees him playing… a tree in the Lake District.

Recordings of Brian’s voice have been installed inside a venerable yew tree in Great Knott Wood near Windermere. He tells the story of the tree as part of a Woodland Trust campaign to conserve the nation’s ancient woods.

“Creating a persona for this veteran being was an offer I couldn’t refuse,” says Brian.
