Merino T-shirt

-

RRP: £40 Target Price: £30 The blue is a beautiful colour, and no worse for having been through the wash about four times during the test. It’s 100% merino wool (200gsm), which means it resists nasty pongs in the long run, while the fit is very flattering with a nice shallow V-neck to help give some shape. Flat lock seams reduce any chance of chaffing, adding to the overall comfort of this top. Merino is a great choice of fabric for walking layers, as it’s very breathable, but there are downsides to consider too, especially when it’s 100% wool; when it gets wet, be it sweat or rain, it starts to falter just a little and I found the heavy denier and close fit made me sweat a lot more than a lighter 150gsm blend of merino may have done. However, when the air temperature was slightly cooler, this came into its own and performace was spot on. The upside of merino is that you can get away with wearing it again and again without washing, making this a near perfect option for long-distance walks. The price doesn’t make you gasp either, especially when you consider this will last you a long time (as long as you wash it carefully). HJ
