RRP: £16 Target Price: £8 This top comes from high street retailer Mountain Warehouse and is part of their high-performance line. At only £16 (and currently available for the reduced price of £8), it’s something of a bargain. This is a synthetic top with a spec similar to the Patagonia Crew, but with more of a heavyweight feel to it, suffering a bit more than others on test when it comes to smell, and lacking the softness of more natural components. It sticks to the skin much more when hot and sweaty, too. Having said that, if you’re not familiar with merino products you won’t notice these niggling points at all and I think you’ll love this top, especially for the price. Because it’s made from synthetic materials, it’s quick to dry, despite feeling heavier than the merino tops. The IsoCool tech feels cooling to the skin initially but as it heated up, it started to cling. A size 10 is quite spacious, so I recommend going into a store to try this on first. It also comes in a few colours, so for the price you may even be tempted to buy a few. HJ
