FJALLRAVEN

Abisko Hike 35

-

RRP: £130 Target price: £115 You might be familiar with Fjällraven’s sleepy fox logo from their Kånken backpacks, sported by urban trendies. This is a more sophisticated member of the family; a canvas pack that’s more at home among the heather and grey skies of the Yorkshire Dales. Pound for pack space, it’s the most expensive rucksack we’re reviewing, but the attention to detail laboured upon it is second to none. There’s a military feel to its clean, rectangular and rugged design, but despite its unfussy styling, there’s also a number of handy zip pockets inside and out for stowing valuables and easy-find essentials. Also useful, was the long zip at the side, for quick access to a fleece, and I love how the side pouch expands for chunkier bottles. The G1000 fabric can be waxed to improve its water resistance and a rain cover is included as well. The pack’s fixed frame gives it shape and support, making loads reassuringly stable when the harness is done up. I felt this wasn’t quite as cosily padded or shaped as others, but some will favour this trimmed simplicity.
