Onward and upward!
I know I won’t manage 1000 miles this year. I’ve been blighted with illness and injuries since December last year, BUT it doesn’t stop me trying. In between the 1000 miles challenge (for which thanks!) I’ve been adding a few more for myself, pushing my own boundaries, finding out who I really am. Things like going down the massive pot hole Gaping Gill on Ingleborough on the May Bank Holiday, and a 50km trek in the Brecon Beacons one day in June. Recently the doc wanted to sign me off for a fortnight due to RSI, so I compromised with a week’s holiday.
My partner set me another challenge while we were away. Paragliding. I don’t like heights, I suffer from motion sickness and when someone tells me to jump off a cliff, I don’t do it! But this time I did, and honestly... it’s one of the best things I have ever done. Lesson learned – believe in someone who believes in you and more importantly, believe in yourself. Brace yourself #walk1000miles. I’m not done yet. Pat Hartley- Gibson, Email
