Glad you showed us the Way!

-

Your article on The Pennine Way, March 2015, inspired my husband and I to embark on a journey we would have been unlikely to take if we hadn’t seen it. Because of time constraints we never intended to complete the whole of the Way in one go so did it piecemeal. We have finally reached Kirk Yetholm and in the process saw parts of the country we never knew existed. I love the wide open spaces and the big skies. We crossed Cross Fell in warmth and sunshine, endured storm force wind and rain up by Hadrian’s Wall and met some interesting people too. Some were walking the route all in one go, some were walking further and others were finishing 40 years after they started.

Now you’ve got us walking we don’t plan to stop yet. The plan is to join the dots of previous walks to reach from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The good thing is we are over 75% of the way. The not so good is that most of what is left is in the wilds of Scotland where the only option is a tent or a bivvy bag and midges or snow! Wish us luck! Miriam Bedford, Email Miriam wins socks
