RRP £95 Target price £85 Jeans are possibly the biggest no-no in the walking wardrobe – they get hot and weigh you down like lead pipes when they get wet. And yet they’re so comfy. And they look good. With the Acostas (men’s Montero), Páramo have tried to combine the feelgood factor of jeans with the technical prowess of walking trousers. They fit like a pair of stretchy, skinny jeans and look like they belong in the city, but the technology woven into the Nikwax Windproof Denim makes them outdoor adventurers through and through. The DWR finish will keep out light showers and take the edge off a biting wind, while cunningly hidden vents on the thighs help to let off steam on sweaty climbs. There are some compromises; the tight-fitting style restricts movement in the hips and makes the pockets useless for all but the smallest items. And being so close to the skin, they don’t dry as quickly as looser trousers. But overall they are a fabulous innovation for those who like to look cool and casual on a walk. RB
