MISTS AND MELLOW FRUITFULNESS
Quarry Hill, Dorset
Mist is magical. Autumn in lingerie. Tantalising and ethereal, it befuddles the adult brain’s ability to judge distance and bids forth childish fancies about what might exist and what the day might hold. All you need is a clear sky (so the ground can radiate away its heat), a cold night (so the air reaches its dew point), and low wind. Moist ground or an incoming warm front to load the air with water vapour won’t hurt either. Combine with a slightly elevated viewpoint ( like here at Quarry Hill near Bridport in Dorset) and there you have it. A familiar view made ravishing.
