WALK HERE
See Walk 15 in this issue. It’s vital to check tide times before you go: bit.ly/hilbretide. And when you get there, check the advice on the notice boards at West Kirby marina. GETTING HERE
West Kirby is accessible by train from Liverpool Lime Street, or by road via the M56 and M53. WHERE TO EAT/STAY The West Kirby Tap (0151 625 0350, www.westkirbytap.co.uk, slogan “life’s too short for cr*p beer”) is a fine repository of alternating real ales, with tapas-style meals around the £12 mark. The town is low on good accommodation, though. Up the road in Hoylake is the Green Lodge pub, run by Marston’s (0151 632 2321, www.greenlodgehotelpub. co.uk), which has doubles from £63 and burgers around £10.
