FJÄLLRÄVEN Keb Padded

-

RRP: £235 Target price: £200 Fjällräven say their Keb range is aimed at multi-day treks, with particular focus on freedom of movement and carefully placed seams that avoid chafing. So it’s no surprise that this insulator is comfy from the off. The insulation is the brand’s own synthetic G-Loft Supreme, and there are lots of quality touches, like an easy-pull leather tag on the zip, a rear drawcord on the hood, and a good-size chest pocket. But some popular details are omitted: the handwarmer pockets don’t have zips, there’s no adjustment in the cuff, and no drawcord on the hem. It’s also quite baggy; good if you’ve got a bulky mid-layer underneath but less so if you’re just wearing it over a base-layer. It’s adaptably warm when you’re moving intensively. But it’s by no means as toasty as the Rohan Icepack, particularly when you’re at rest, and it makes no claims at all to be water-repellent. So although it’s an excellent all-rounder for dry, cold and windy conditions, and well suited to its stated aim of trekking, it isn’t the best at any particular specialism of the insulator, and the lack of some fairly common refinements is a bit strange.
