Dymock is just off the M50 between junctions 2 and 3. Stagecoach bus 132 runs Gloucester-NewentLedbury via Dymock, Monday to Saturday. Train stations at Ledbury and Gloucester.
where to stay
Bed down at one of the farms on route like the Three Choirs Vineyard at Baldwins Farm ( www. three-choirs-vineyards.co.uk), a couple of miles south-east of Dymock with double rooms in the house and lodges among the vines. B&B from £149; brasserie on site, with wine tasting too of course. Or just down the road, sleep in a shepherd’s hut from £55 a night ( www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/11252365).
where to eat
Daffodil teas at St Mary’s Church in Dymock from 2nd March to 19th April, and Ploughman’s lunches too if you pre-order ( www.dymockchurch. net). Or head to The Beauchamp Arms (01531 890266, www.beauchamparmsdymock.co.uk, no food Sun evenings or Mon) for light bites like bacon & brie ciabatta (£7), and main meals like steak pie (£9.50) or vegetable lasagne (£9.25).
