How long have you run your business? 21 years (the business is 51 years old) What gives you the most pleasure in the running of it, in ordinary times? We’re all outdoor enthusiasts at Cicerone, so we're pretty passionate about our work with expert authors, creating and developing great guidebooks that are really practical, well researched, and accurate.

What do you most hope for, right now, and why?

We hope this time will give us all time to reflect on the way we treat the countryside, and return with a greater respect for the wildlife and landscapes we treasure. Short walks from home, and in the garden are showing us that as soon as the world of humans is quieter, there is so much more to see that is much more important and enduring. This should be a time for reflection and change, and mutual support. Why do you love where you live? Cicerone’s office is in Kendal, just outside the Lake District. We’re really lucky to be able to access such a fantastic region of mountains and lakes, even for evening walks and bike rides in the summer!
