We shopped around for the lightest baselayer we could find that would still suit all the needs of a walker (rather than a runner/cyclist) and this was our best find. It’s made with 100% polyester, namely JW’s Hydropore Ecosphere fabric, which is light, stretchy and loaded with anti-odour and UV protection treatments. One fabric doing all the work = less overall weight. It lacks the luxury feel and warmth of the BAM top but its moisture management is great. It’s a little clingy if you’re working hard on a hot day (consider going a size up from normal) but it’s brilliant in colder, blowier conditions, especially if worn under a good quality fleece. jack-wolfskin.co.uk
