Places I can’t wait to get back to...
Ravenseat Farm in Upper Swaledale is not accepting visitors at present, but check yorkshireshepherdess.com for updates. In normal times, farmer and TV star Amanda Owen and family serve cream teas here, and it’s well worth a walking detour on the drive up Birkdale.
Keld Lodge is the centrepoint of the Coast to Coast (it has a muchphotographed sign telling you so), and it feels like the pub at the top of the world. 01748 886259, keldlodge.com
The Farmers Arms in Muker is an old haunt of CW’s from the days of the Boots and Beer Walking Festival, and is always a joy to pause at. 01748 886297, farmersarmsmuker.co.uk
Last year I had a Full English Breakfast Pizza at the Buck Hotel in Reeth. I almost broke Facebook with a photo of it. I’m going back. 01748 884210, buckhotel.co.uk
The camping pods and bell tents at YHA Grinton Lodge (yha.org.uk) were open as we went to Press. Hopefully the rest of this fine hostel just south of Reeth can reopen soon.
Low Mill Guest House in Bainbridge in one of the finest places I’ve ever stayed. A former watermill exquisitely restored by Neil and Jane McNair, it boasts a working waterwheel, lush interiors, fabulous home cooking and a beautiful garden. 01969 650553, lowmillguesthouse.co.uk
Elijah Allen’s grocery shop in Hawes is simply the most Yorkshire shop in the world and you just have to buy something there, even if it’s just bread for your sarnie. 01969 667219
Bernie’s of Ingleton is the oldest café in Ingleton, and its ‘muddy boots and soggy dogs welcome’ policy is a gift to everyone who’s just tramped down off Ingleborough. 0330 113 9848, berniesofingleton.co.uk
Ye Olde Naked Man Café in Settle is not just about the funny name – the onsite bakery ensures the cakes are always amazing too. Go for the stem ginger and marmalade. 01729 823230, yeoldenakedman.com
