GETTING HERE

The Brampton Valley Way follows the trackbed of the former Northampto­n to Market Harborough Railway for 14 miles between the two towns, with access points along the route.

WHERE TO EAT, DRINK & STAY

The Bull’s Head in Arthingwor­th (01858 525637, thebullshe­adonline. co.uk) is just off the line on the Brompton Valley Way, and offers doubles with breakfast from £45, plus good pub grub such as 10oz gammon steak for £12.75. In nearby Maidwell, The Stag Inn (01604 686700, the-stag-maidwell.co.uk) has doubles with breakfast from £50. It’s currently offering takeaway (such as fish and chips for £7) as well as eat-in options – booking advised for the latter.
