‘The last 12 months have been a rollercoaster’

“First I lost my mum, then my dad to Covid – then I was made redundant thanks to the pandemic’s effect on my last employer’s business. It knocked me flat. But then my wife told me – do what you love and go explore places you’ve never been before. So with my #walk1000miles target in mind I decided to take time out for myself and try to enjoy the outdoors instead of worrying about the future. The challenge has given me the focus to take my mind away from everything that’s happened – and it encouraged me that others have overcome adversity with its help. I’m currently a full-time house husband, so the challenge gets me out of the chores a couple of times a week to go walking and it’s great to be part of the community.
