6 SPOT AND ID A DEER

Do you know which deer is which? Now’s a good time to see and ID, especially at dawn or dusk. If you can, get a pic! But a positive ID is a must. Was it a Roe, Fallow, Red, Muntjac, Sika or Chinese water deer?

7 DEDICATE A WEEK OF MILES TO A CHARITY

Turbo-charge your walks with extra feelgood for a week: promise to give £1 (or whatever you can spare) for every mile you walk in a seven-day period to a charity of your choice.

8 START A SCRAPBOOK

Keep notes, doodles, maps, bits and pieces – anything that brings to mind the particularities of your days on foot. Try to record something from every walk. You’ll be amazed how this record grows in value!

9 FIND AN INTERESTING GRAVESTONE

These sober places are fascinating historical records and can be lifeaffirming too. Find the oldest headstone, an unusual name or a story that invites more research...

10 TELL US A JOKE

What’s your go-to joke to lift spirits at the end of a long walk? Help us build a library of emergency chortles for weary moments. Jokes can be any length, on video or written, and our favourite 4 win!
